Zing and Zang
For this project, we had to design baby food packaging with a random fruit or veggie. While everyone else got cute options like strawberries or apples, I got broccoli and a jalapeño. I immediately doubted myself. How do you make that work for babies without scaring the parents?
The design looked great on screen, but cutting it out was a challenge. The dielines were tricky to fold and glue together. I didn’t want a basic package design; I wanted something kids would enjoy seeing while parents recognized the healthy ingredients. Creating Zing and Zang, little characters representing the broccoli and jalapeño, helped pull it all together and made the veggies playful and approachable.
Overall, the challenges were worth it. I learned a lot about dielines, layout, and thinking through a 3D package from both a creative and practical perspective. Seeing the final product come together made me really proud of the end result.
